I don't think that I need to say that there are obvious technological requirements. But, I'll say it anyway.  You need access to a computer for an online class in order to get an online degree.  It can be pricey if you don't already have one. Your own computer is preferable because it allows for the most freedom for you to complete your requirements for your online degree on your own schedule.  Your computer must have access to the Internet.  There are dial-up services, broadband services, and DSL services.  It doesn't necessarily matter which type of connection you have unless, like me, you have a need for speed and hate waiting for downloads, buffers, and the like. Then I suppose you would want a high-speed connection.  There are also free Internet services still available.

Once you get your computer set up and Internet service connected, you'll want to be sure you have an email account because this is how you will be communicating with your instructor.  It's not a big deal to set up an email account once you've overcome the task of obtaining access to the Internet.  Many web-based email services are free so you'll have absolutely no excuse for being prepared.

Taking online classes isn't for everyone, but it does provide for the type of flexible scheduling many people need today in out hectic lives.  Getting an education to further grow personally or for our careers no longer has to be this insurmountable barrier.  There is an online program that will suit every need.
